Fantasia II (1998)

Mastering Fantasia II starts with familiarizing yourself with its core controls: use the joystick to move left/right and crouch, the A button for melee sword attacks, the B button for jumps, and the C button to cast powerful magic (each use consumes one charge from your magic gauge). For new players, avoid rushing through levels first: break every potted plant, wooden crate, and crystal cluster you encounter, as these contain healing apples, magic refills, and even hidden 1-up golden feathers. The first 1-up is hidden behind the second bush in the opening Enchanted Forest level, so grab it early to boost your survivability. For boss fights, follow these proven strategies: against the first boss, the Venomous Flower Matriarch, dodge its three consecutive vine swipes, then jump onto the elevated platform on its back to attack its glowing core when it releases poison clouds (standing on the ground during poison clouds will drain half your health in seconds). Against the second boss, the Crystal Golem, you can deflect the boulders it throws back at it by attacking them mid-air; three successful deflections will stun it, leaving its weak chest gem exposed for massive damage. Against the third boss, the Fallen Knight, dodge his horizontal charge by moving vertically instead of jumping back (his charge covers the full length of the screen), then attack his unarmored back for double damage. For the final boss Morgrath, save at least two magic charges for his second dragon form: clear his summoned minions first in phase one, then stand on the two elevated platforms at either end of the arena in phase two to avoid his full-screen dragon breath, and use your saved magic to blast his exposed head for quick kills. If you collect all four hidden magic gems (one per level), you will unlock a secret bonus level filled with extra lives and max magic refills, plus a special hidden ending after you defeat Morgrath. In two-player co-op, assign one player to clear swarms of smaller enem
