Starting Bonze Adventure (World, Newer) for the first time? Follow these pro tips to make your journey through the underworld smoother and beat Enma on your first few runs. First, master the core controls: use the 8-way joystick to move Kaidomaru left, right, climb ladders, and crouch to avoid low attacks, press the A button to throw blessed rosary beads as your primary weapon, and tap the B button to jump over gaps and incoming projectiles. Prioritize collecting power-ups as soon as they drop: golden rosary upgrades increase your projectile count, range, and damage, stacking up to 3 times for a wide spread shot that clears crowds of enemies quickly. Blue protective amulets grant 5 seconds of invincibility, letting you run through dangerous groups of enemies or boss attacks without taking damage, while rice balls restore one full heart of your health bar. For stage-specific tips: in Stage 1’s river area, kappa will leap out of the water without warning 2 steps ahead of your current position, so move slowly and keep firing forward to take them out before they hit you. In Stage 3’s bamboo forest, look for the third tall bamboo stalk on the left side of the screen 30 seconds into the stage: hit it repeatedly to unlock a hidden full-health rice ball that will save you from tricky later fights. For boss battles, never stand directly in front of the boss: the first boss, the blue oni, will charge straight forward if you stay in his line of sight, so strafe to his side and fire at his head during the 2-second window after he throws his hammer. For the final boss Enma, clear out the small summoned oni minions first before focusing fire on his face when he leans down to launch fireballs, as his fire attacks can only hit the center of the screen if you stay on the far left or right platforms. Note that this World Newer build removes the original version’s infinite rosary exploit, so avoid spamming attacks when enemies are out of range to save your ammo for tight spots.
