Fantasia II (Less Explicit)

Released in 1994 by South Korean arcade developer and publisher F2 System, Fantasia II (Less Explicit) is the family-friendly, content-adjusted iteration of the original 1993 fantasy side-scrolling beat 'em up, modified to meet global content rating standards for arcade halls across North America and Europe. This version removes all suggestive character designs, crude dialogue, and graphic kill animations present in the initial regional release, making it accessible for players of all ages while retaining all of the original title’s core gameplay, narrative, and level design. Set in the magical medieval kingdom of Aetheria, the game follows four playable heroes as they embark on a quest to rescue Princess Lira from the clutches of dark wizard Malakar, who plans to use her royal blood to unlock the power of an ancient forbidden artifact and conquer the realm. Players can choose between the high-health melee knight Elric, ranged spellcasting mage Lumina, fast-paced dagger-wielding thief

Game Guide

Mastering Fantasia II (Less Explicit) is simple to learn for new players, but requires strategic play to beat the final boss Malakar without running out of lives, even on standard difficulty. First, start with character selection that matches your playstyle: new players should pick knight Elric first, as he has the highest health pool in the game, a wide basic attack arc that hits multiple enemies at once, and a special Holy Shockwave ability that clears all small enemies within a 180-degree range in front of him, making him extremely forgiving for mistakes. If you prefer ranged play and have experience with beat 'em ups, choose mage Lumina: her basic magic projectile attacks hit enemies from across the screen, so you don’t have to risk taking melee damage, though her low health means you have to prioritize dodging enemy attacks. As you progress through levels, keep these core tips in mind: first, always prioritize flying enemies like goblin bombers before handling ground units, as their explosive attacks can hit you from off-screen and chip away at your health unexpectedly. Second, save your special ability charges (built by landing hits on enemies) for enemy hordes or boss phases, not for 1 or 2 stray enemies: each full special bar lets you use two ultimate abilities, which can clear an entire screen of non-boss enemies instantly or deal massive damage to boss weak points. Third, break every crate, barrel, and destructible wall you see: every level has hidden golden chests (for example, hit the left stone wall next to the castle gate in level 2 three times to reveal one) that hold 1-up extra lives, full health restores, or unlimited special charge buffs that last 30 seconds. For the final boss Malakar, follow this phase-by-phase strategy: in his first phase, he fires slow-moving dark magic orbs that you can jump over, and you only deal damage if you hit his glowing magic staff, not his body. In his second phase, he summons two lich minions that spawn endless gobli
