E-Swat - Cyber Police (set 1, Japan, FD1094 317-0131)

Released in 1989 by Sega for arcade platforms, E-Swat - Cyber Police (set 1, Japan, FD1094 317-0131) is the authentic original Japanese release of the iconic cyberpunk side-scrolling action game, protected by the proprietary FD1094 317-0131 security chip to prevent unlicensed duplication in its era. Set in the dystopian Liberty City overrun by the ruthless criminal syndicate E.Y.E, you step into the boots of Duke Oda, a rookie Cyber Police officer tasked with dismantling the syndicate’s network of robotic enforcers, bio-engineered thugs, and corrupt corporate allies. The game’s core loop starts you as an unarmored officer equipped with only a standard service pistol, but after completing the first mission and proving your skill, you are granted access to the experimental E-Swat power armor: a high-tech exosuit that unlocks a jetpack for short bursts of flight, upgraded heavy weapons, and extra health to survive tougher encounters. Game Guide

Mastering E-Swat - Cyber Police’s core mechanics is key to beating the syndicate and completing all 7 stages, especially on this slightly more challenging Japanese set 1 release. First, familiarize yourself with the basic controls: use the 8-way joystick to move left, right, crouch, and aim up or down, with two buttons assigned to fire and jump. In your pre-armor state early in the first stage, avoid rushing forward blindly: your standard pistol deals low damage, so take cover behind destructible crates to avoid incoming fire, and prioritize picking up the shotgun power-up dropped by defeated enemies, as it can one-shot most regular grunts. Always stop to rescue hostages you encounter mid-stage: they will reward you with extra health, bonus points, or rare power-ups that you cannot find anywhere else. Once you unlock your E-Swat armor after defeating the first stage boss, your jetpack is your most valuable tool: hold down the jump button to hover for up to 3 seconds, which lets you avoid ground hazards like laser traps, exploding barrels, and sweeping melee attacks from large enemies, as well as reach hidden platforms with extra life tokens. Your armor supports three upgradeable weapons: the default high-capacity machine gun for general use, the spread-fire plasma cannon for crowds of enemies, and the high-damage rocket launcher reserved for boss fights. Save rocket launcher ammo exclusively for boss encounters, as wasting it on regular enemies will leave you vulnerable to high-health bosses. For the stage 2 giant tank boss, use your jetpack to hover above its main cannon fire, and aim directly at its glowing red cockpit to take it down in just 4 rocket hits. For the stage 4 ninja cyborg boss, listen for the high-pitched beep that signals he is about to teleport, dodge his incoming shuriken volley, then unload with the plasma cannon while he is stationary between teleports. Collect E-Swat emblem pickups scattered across stages, as every 5 emblems you collect unlocks
