Dragonball Z 2 - Super Battle

Released in 1994 by Japanese publisher Banpresto for arcade cabinets worldwide, Dragonball Z 2 - Super Battle is one of the most celebrated 2D fighting games adapted from Akira Toriyama’s legendary Dragon Ball Z anime franchise. As the official sequel to 1993’s original Dragon Ball Z arcade fighter, this title expanded the playable roster to 12 iconic characters including Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo, Trunks, Frieza, Perfect Cell, and Android 18, each with signature moves pulled directly from the show’s hit Android and Cell sagas. Unlike many licensed arcade titles of the 1990s, it featured tight, responsive controls, hand-drawn sprites that perfectly matched the anime’s signature art style, and dynamic stage backdrops ranging from the official Cell Games arena to the dusty wastelands outside West City. Its core battle system supports standard punch, kick, and guard inputs, plus iconic Ki blast attacks and over-the-top finishing moves like Goku’s Spirit Bomb and Vegeta’s Final Flash th

Game Guide

Whether you are grinding through the single-player arcade ladder or facing off against a friend in versus mode, these tips will help you dominate every match in Dragonball Z 2 - Super Battle. First, master the basic control scheme before trying complex tricks: every character has four core inputs (light punch, heavy punch, light kick, heavy kick) plus a dedicated guard button, and learning to chain light attacks into heavy hits before triggering a special move will deal far more damage than spamming single attacks. Do not overlook the Ki charge mechanic: holding down heavy punch and heavy kick simultaneously lets you build your Ki gauge, which is required to throw long-range Ki blasts and activate your character’s high-damage ultimate finishing move. For new players, start with Goku or Teen Gohan first: both have simple special move inputs (quarter-circle forward + punch for Kamehameha, half-circle back + kick for Dragon Kick) that are easy to execute consistently, making them ideal for learning the game’s core flow. When facing opponents that love spamming Ki blasts, use the quick dash feature (double tap left or right on the joystick) to close the gap fast, or hold the guard button to block incoming damage while building your own Ki for a counterattack. If you are stuck on the final boss fight against Perfect Cell, note he has two clear weak points: he is vulnerable to counterattacks right after using his own Kamehameha wave, and his dash punch has a long windup time you can dodge by jumping and hitting him with a mid-air kick to the head before following up with a full combo. For 2-player matches, avoid spamming the same special move repeatedly: experienced players can easily block repeated attacks and counter with a finishing move that will end the round in seconds. Instead, mix up close-range melee combos, occasional Ki blasts, and jump attacks to keep your opponent guessing, and save your ultimate move for when your opponent’s health bar is below 30% to guaran
