Mastering Double Wings (Asia) is all about smart resource management and knowing which weapon to use for each scenario, starting with the basics: use your arrow keys or D-pad to move your fighter, the primary action button to fire continuously, and the secondary button to deploy your screen-clearing bomb. For new players, start with the scatter laser weapon for the first two levels: its wide coverage lets you take out swarms of small enemy fighters that spawn from all edges of the screen, so you don’t have to chase individual targets across the screen. Once you reach the third level, switch to the focused missile barrage: this weapon deals 3x more damage to armored units and boss ships, which become far more common from this point onward. Save the auto-tracking ion cannon for levels 5 and 6, where high-speed enemy fighters spawn from the sides and rear of the screen to ambush you, as the ion cannon will lock onto these targets automatically without you having to reposition. Your wingman power-ups are one of your most valuable resources: you can stockpile up to 3 wingman charges at a time, and you should never use them during regular level segments. Wait until you reach a boss fight to activate all 3 wingmen at once, as they will match your current primary weapon type and triple your damage output, cutting boss fight times in half and reducing your risk of taking damage. Don’t hoard your bombs either: you can hold up to 3 bombs at a time, and any extra bomb power-ups you collect when your stock is full will award you 10,000 bonus points, so feel free to use a bomb whenever you get trapped in a bullet pattern you can’t dodge. To unlock the exclusive hidden space station level, you need to earn at least 1.2 million points across the first three levels without losing a single life: beating the hidden level’s boss will award you a permanent max-level weapon upgrade that makes the rest of the game far easier.
