Mastering Diamond Run’s core mechanics is the first step to beating all 40 levels and claiming a spot at the top of the leaderboards. First, familiarize yourself with the basic controls: the 4-way joystick controls your treasure hunter’s movement, while the single action button lets you place temporary blockades to slow down enemies or hold down pressure plates that open locked gates. When you spawn into a new level, take 2 to 3 seconds to scan the entire layout first, noting the positions of diamonds, enemy spawn points, traps, and any visible power-ups before you start moving. Rushing in without planning almost always leads to running straight into a patrolling guardian or falling into a hidden spiked pit. Next, prioritize collecting diamonds in dense clusters first instead of bouncing between scattered individual gems, as this cuts down on your total travel time significantly, which is critical for beating the tight level timers on later stages. When dealing with enemies, don’t waste your limited supply of blockades on every guardian you see: save them for high-traffic areas or narrow corridors that you have to cross multiple times to collect remaining diamonds. If a guardian starts chasing you, use the level’s corners and tight turns to break their line of sight, as they will lose track of you and return to their default patrol route if you stay out of their view for 3 full seconds. Pay close attention to power-up spawns, which appear every 20 seconds in fixed positions on each level: the speed boost power-up doubles your movement speed for 10 seconds, perfect for collecting scattered diamonds quickly at the end of a level, the invincibility power-up lets you walk through enemies and traps without taking damage for 8 seconds, and the magnet power-up pulls all diamonds within a 3-tile radius to you automatically, saving huge amounts of travel time.
