Devil Fish

Mastering Devil Fish requires a mix of map awareness, timing, and resource management to get high scores and beat all 12 base levels. First, familiarize yourself with the core controls: the 4-way joystick controls your diver’s movement in all directions, while the single action button fires a small stun harpoon that can temporarily disable small hostile creatures like sharks and jellyfish for 3 seconds, though it has no effect on the giant Devil Fish octopus. The first key rule to survive is to always prioritize collecting treasure chests along the edge of the map first, rather than rushing to the center. The Devil Fish’s tentacle sweeps almost always target the central area of the map first, and the edges have far more coral and rock shelters you can hide behind to avoid taking damage. Second, learn to recognize the Devil Fish’s attack tell: 2 seconds before it swings its tentacles, its head will flash bright red. As soon as you see this flash, move immediately to the nearest solid obstacle, as tentacles cannot pass through rocks or coral. You only have 3 lives per run, so avoiding unnecessary damage is critical. Third, never waste your stun harpoon shots. The harpoon has a 3-second cooldown after each use, so only fire it when a shark or jellyfish is within 2 character lengths of you. Wasting shots can leave you defenseless if an enemy ambushes you around a corner. Finally, take full advantage of bonus stages: every time you collect 10 regular treasure chests, you unlock a 20-second bonus stage where the Devil Fish is dormant. Collect as many floating pearls as possible during this window, as each pearl gives 3x the score of a regular treasure chest. Prioritize pearls closest to your spawn point first instead of chasing faraway ones, as you will lose all uncollected bonus points if the timer runs out before you exit the stage.
