Dan-Ku-Ga (Ver 0.0J 1994 12 13) (Prototype) [Prototype, Missing graphics are normal in this prototype]

Dan-Ku-Ga (Ver 0.0J 1994 12 13) (Prototype) is an extremely rare, never-officially-released arcade game recovered from an early development build dated December 13, 1994. Slated for launch in mid-1990s Japanese arcades, the project was abruptly canceled late in development, leaving no official copies distributed to arcade operators or consumers. This prototype build is one of the only surviving records of the title, making it a highly sought-after treasure for retro arcade collectors and fans of unreleased gaming history. As explicitly noted in the ROM metadata, missing graphics, untextured assets, occasional frame drops, and incomplete level layouts are completely normal for this pre-release version, as these features were still in active development when the project was scrapped. The game blends fast-paced vertical shooting mechanics with unique melee combo systems, a novel design for 1990s arcade titles that would have set it apart from competing shooters of the era if it had launch

Game Guide

First, it is critical to note that you do not need to adjust your emulator or display settings to fix missing graphics, broken animations, or untextured assets – these are inherent to the 0.0J 1994 prototype build and are entirely expected. For core controls, this arcade prototype uses a standard 6-button arcade layout: Button 1 fires your continuous long-range laser attack, best for clearing swarms of small flying enemy units in the first two levels. Button 2 triggers a heavy melee slash that deals 3x more damage to armored enemies and bosses, but only works at close range. Button 3 activates a short invincibility dodge roll, which is essential for avoiding untelegraphed boss attacks that have missing animation cues in this build. Button 4 cycles between your three unlockable sub-weapons: homing missiles, spread shot, and explosive grenades. For early level progression, prioritize collecting the blue power-up orbs dropped by elite enemies to boost your laser damage before facing the level 2 boss, which has no visible attack wind-up animations in this prototype. When fighting the level 3 boss, stay near the edges of the screen to avoid its unmarked area-of-effect attacks, and only move in to use your melee slash when it pauses movement for 1 to 2 seconds. Note that the build cuts off abruptly at the start of level 4, as this part of the game was never completed before development stopped.
