Cyberbots - fullmetal madness (950424 USA Phoenix Edition) [Bootleg]

Released in 1995 by legendary Japanese game developer Capcom as a fighting game spin-off of its hit 1994 side-scrolling beat ‘em up Armored Warriors, Cyberbots: Fullmetal Madness carved out a dedicated fanbase in 90s arcades for its unique mech-focused combat, vibrant anime-style art, and branching story paths. The 950424 USA Phoenix Edition [Bootleg] is a widely beloved modified build of the original arcade title, circulated widely across North American arcade cabinets in the mid-90s by underground rom modders. Unlike the official retail release, this bootleg edition unlocks all 8 playable Variant Armor (VA) mechs and 4 hidden characters from the start, removes the original’s limited continue cap, and adjusts combat balance to reduce overpowered character advantages for fairer competitive play. Set in the year 2098, the game’s story follows a roster of 6 playable pilots, ranging from hot-headed mech pilot Jin Saotome to eccentric royal villain Devilotte de Deathsatan IX, as they compe

Game Guide

Mastering Cyberbots - Fullmetal Madness (950424 USA Phoenix Edition) [Bootleg] starts with choosing the right Variant Armor (VA) for your playstyle, and since this bootleg unlocks all mechs from launch, you can test every option immediately. New players should start with the balanced VA-01 Blodia, which offers equal parts speed, attack power, and easy-to-execute combos, paired with pilot Jin Saotome for a 5% bonus to melee attack damage. The core control scheme uses a 4-button arcade layout: light punch, heavy punch, light kick, heavy kick, paired with an 8-way joystick for movement. Basic combo fundamentals start with chaining 2-3 light attacks into a heavy attack, then into a special move: for Blodia, input down-forward + punch to trigger its fiery Burning Punch special, which deals high damage and knocks back opponents. For defensive play, hold back on the joystick to block incoming attacks, but watch your guard meter – block too many heavy hits in a row and your guard will break, leaving you stunned and vulnerable to full combo attacks. To avoid this, practice quick dodges by double-tapping left or right on the joystick to dash out of the way of incoming strikes. This bootleg edition speeds up super meter gain significantly, so you can trigger your VA’s super move far more often than in the official release: once your super meter is full, input down-forward, down-forward + both punch buttons at the same time to unleash a high-damage super move that can take out up to 60% of an opponent’s health bar. When facing slow, high-damage heavy mechs like the VA-03 Guldin, use fast, agile mechs like the reptilian VA-02 Reptos to circle behind opponents: back attacks deal 150% regular damage, letting you take down bulky foes fast. If you’re playing through the single-player story mode, this bootleg offers unlimited continues, so you don’t have to restart the entire campaign if you lose to the final boss Dark Armor.
