Cresta Mundo (Laguna S.A. Spanish Moon Cresta bootleg) [Bootleg]

Cresta Mundo is an unlicensed arcade bootleg adapted from Nichibutsu’s iconic 1980 fixed shooter Moon Cresta, developed and distributed by Spanish entertainment company Laguna S.A. in the early 1980s. As a region-specific bootleg tailored for Spanish arcade markets, it retained all core gameplay mechanics of the original Moon Cresta while making small localization tweaks, including Spanish-language menu text and adjusted difficulty curves to suit local player preferences. The game places players in control of a modular space fighter tasked with fending off waves of invading alien fleets, with a unique ship-fusing feature that lets players combine up to three separate fighter crafts to unlock boosted firepower as they clear enemy waves. At the time of its release, licensed arcade imports were rare and expensive in Spain, so bootleg titles like Cresta Mundo became staples of local arcade halls, earning a cult following among retro gaming fans who grew up playing it in the 1980s. Game Guide

Mastering Cresta Mundo’s arcade action starts with getting familiar with its core control scheme: use the left/right joystick to move your fighter across the bottom of the screen, and the single action button to fire at incoming alien forces. The game’s signature ship fusion mechanic is your biggest strategic tool, so use it deliberately instead of fusing your ships as soon as the option appears. For the first two waves of basic alien fighters, keep your ships separated as single small crafts: their smaller hitbox makes it far easier to dodge incoming fire and erratic enemy dive attacks. Once you clear the third wave, if you still have at least two fighters intact, fuse them to unlock double firepower, which is powerful enough to take out mid-tier armored alien ships without sacrificing too much maneuverability. Only fuse all three of your ships into the full max-power fighter when you encounter the large alien mothership waves, as the triple fire output can take down these high-health targets in seconds, even though the larger hitbox makes you more vulnerable. Prioritize taking out gold-colored elite alien fighters first whenever they appear: they award 3x the score of standard fighters, and hitting the 10,000 point threshold will unlock an extra bonus life that can get you through the harder late-game waves. If you lose one of your fighters mid-wave, avoid fusing your remaining ships until you finish the current set of enemies, as staying small will help you avoid taking more unnecessary damage while you clean up the remaining aliens.
