Crazy Kong Part II (Japan)

Released in 1981 by Japanese developer and publisher Falcon Corporation, Crazy Kong Part II (Japan) is a cult classic arcade platformer born from the early 1980s global arcade boom. As an unofficial expanded follow-up to the original Crazy Kong, a widely popular Donkey Kong clone created to fill critical supply gaps for Nintendo’s hit title in Japanese arcades, Part II refined the core platforming formula with tighter level design, faster gameplay, and unique enemy patterns that set it apart from both its predecessor and the official Donkey Kong release. The game puts players in control of a blue-collar construction worker tasked with climbing a multi-level, unfinished construction site to rescue his captive girlfriend, who is held hostage by the giant, aggressive gorilla Kong at the very top of the structure. Across four distinct, progressively difficult stages, players must dodge rolling barrels thrown directly by Kong, avoid fast-moving flying cement blocks, outrun patrolling flame

Game Guide

First, master the core control scheme to avoid early, avoidable mistakes: use the 4-way joystick to move left or right across platforms, climb up and down ladders, and press the single dedicated action button to jump. For the opening sloped construction level, time your jumps carefully to avoid rolling barrels—never jump directly on top of a barrel unless you have already picked up a hammer power-up, as collision detection is tighter for unprotected jumps. When barrels approach a ladder opening, wait 1 to 2 seconds for them to pass before climbing, as roughly 30% of barrels will randomly roll down ladders to catch unsuspecting players off guard. The elevator level is where most new players struggle, as the two moving elevators shift at inconsistent, accelerating speeds as you progress through runs. Wait until the higher elevator is within 1 tile of the lower one before jumping, and never leap while either elevator is at the very top or bottom of its movement range, as this will almost always cause you to miss the ledge entirely. Watch for fast-flying bird enemies that cross the screen at random intervals; jump over them only when they are at least 2 tiles away to avoid unexpected collision. For the final rivet level, work your way systematically from the bottom row of rivets to the top, stepping on each rivet until it pops out to remove that section of the platform. Avoid lingering near the edges of platforms for more than 2 seconds, as Kong will throw fast-moving cement blocks that target your current position on a fixed 3-second timer. If you spot a flame enemy climbing up a ladder toward you, move to the opposite side of the platform and use a well-timed jump to hop over it instead of trying to climb down to escape, as flames often follow players down ladders. If you want to maximize your high score, prioritize picking up hammers whenever they spawn: a hammer lets you destroy barrels and flame enemies for 300 extra points each, but note that you cannot climb ladd
