First, prioritize qualifying success: qualifying rounds only last one lap, and you do not need to worry about long-term damage. Avoid unnecessary collisions with other drivers, stay on the racing line (marked by lighter grey pavement on most tracks), and only brake lightly for sharp turns to avoid losing speed. As long as you finish within the posted time limit, you will advance to the main race even if your car is smoking from minor impacts. For main race runs, always monitor your vehicle status and weather alerts in the top corner of the screen. If you collide with a barrier or rival, a smoke icon will appear in the lower left: you have approximately 20 seconds to make a pit stop to repair damage before your car catches fire and is disqualified. If a rain cloud icon appears, make sure to request rain tires during your next pit stop, as standard tires have 50% less grip on wet tracks and will cause frequent spins and crashes.
