Mastering Burglar X requires a mix of sharp pattern recognition, quick reflexes, and strategic resource management to clear late-game levels and hit top high scores. First, spend your first 1-2 runs of each new level memorizing patrol paths for guards and dogs: all enemy movement follows fixed, repeating patterns, so learning these routes eliminates 80% of unexpected captures early on. Prioritize locating and unlocking safes first before collecting standard loot: safes hold 10x the point value of regular cash stacks, and each successfully opened safe adds 10 extra seconds to your level timer, which is critical for clearing later levels with tight time limits. Never waste silver keys on standard locked drawers, which only hold low-value loot and offer no time bonus. Hold on to pizza power-ups until you truly need them: the 15-second invincibility window is best used when you are cornered by multiple enemies, or when the final piece of loot you need is surrounded by patrolling guards, not immediately after you pick it up. If you are aiming for a top high score, you can intentionally string together guard escapes for bonus points: successfully shaking off 3 consecutive pursuing guards grants a 500-point bonus, while shaking off 5 or more grants a 2000-point bonus, which adds up quickly across multiple levels. Starting at Level 4, watch for hidden motion sensor lights mounted on walls: stepping into the light beam triggers an instant alarm, drawing every enemy on the map straight to your location, so stick to shadowed areas whenever possible.
