Bubble Memories: The Story Of Bubble Bobble III (Ver 2.5A 1996 02 21)

Released by Taito in February 1996 as the third official mainline entry in the legendary Bubble Bobble franchise, Bubble Memories: The Story Of Bubble Bobble III (Ver 2.5A 1996 02 21) is a polished arcade platformer that builds on everything fans loved about earlier Bubble Bobble titles. This specific 2.5A version is the final retail arcade revision, launched on February 21, 1996, fixing early version bugs, balancing enemy spawn rates, and adjusting item drop frequencies for a smoother, fairer gameplay experience. The story follows protagonists Bubby and Bobby, who were on the verge of being turned back into human boys after their previous adventures, only for the evil dark wizard Dark Villain to curse them back into bubble-blowing dragons, kidnap their girlfriends, and trap them across 80 vibrant, increasingly challenging levels. Core gameplay stays true to the series formula: you control your small dragon character, blow bubbles to trap wandering enemies, then jump into the bubbles t

Game Guide

Mastering Bubble Memories: The Story Of Bubble Bobble III (Ver 2.5A) is easy to pick up but takes practice to perfect, and these tips will help you beat the full game and unlock the true ending. First, familiarize yourself with basic controls: use the joystick to move left and right, the jump button to leap between platforms, and the attack button to blow bubbles. For early levels (1 to 20), prioritize picking up the red sneaker power-up first: it boosts your movement speed drastically, making it far easier to dodge incoming enemies and chase rare item drops before they disappear off the screen. Most importantly, always collect the rainbow gem whenever it appears in a level: you need all 7 gems spread across levels 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, and 70 to unlock the secret final 10 levels. Without these gems, you will get the bad ending and end your run after level 70. When it comes to special elemental bubbles, save your fire and lightning bubbles for levels with large groups of fast-moving enemies or boss fights: fire bubbles burn through entire horizontal lines of enemies, while lightning bubbles stun and damage every enemy on the screen for a short period. Water bubbles are perfect for clearing ground-level enemies, as they roll across flat platforms and take out every foe in their path. For boss fights, learn their fixed attack patterns first: for example, the level 20 tree boss throws spiked seeds that grow into small enemies, so stand on the highest platform to avoid the seeds, trap the newly spawned enemies in bubbles, and pop them to send bubble projectiles at the boss. If you are playing in two-player co-op mode, split up your roles: have one player focus on clearing enemies on higher platforms, while the other handles ground-level foes, and never stand in the same spot for too long, as most boss area attacks will hit both players at once if you cluster together. To maximize your score and earn extra lives, pop 3 or more bubbles holding the same type of enemy in
