Mastering Boogie Wings’ unique tow hook mechanic is the key to clearing all five stages without running out of extra lives, so prioritize learning its timing before relying on standard firepower. Your basic controls include an 8-way joystick for movement, a primary fire button for your biplane’s default machine gun (which can be upgraded with spread shot and laser power-ups dropped by enemy supply planes), and a hook button to extend and retract your tow line. When you hook an object, hold the hook button to carry it with you, and release the button to fling it in the direction you are moving: flung objects deal 5x more damage than standard fire, and can take out entire clusters of enemies and armored ground turrets in one hit. For the first stage’s train boss, skip wasting upgraded ammo on its armored hull: instead, hook the empty rail cars scattered along the sides of the track and fling them directly at the train’s exposed smokestack weak point, and you will defeat it in 3 hits or less. When you see a large enemy vehicle (including attack zeppelins, armored trucks, and enemy bomber planes), reduce its health to roughly 30% (you will see its hull flash red repeatedly) then hook its cockpit area and double tap the hook button to eject the enemy pilot and take control. Hijacked vehicles have unlimited special ammo for 20 to 30 seconds, and their wide-range attacks make clearing dense enemy waves trivial. On the third stage’s urban level, take time to fling small debris at the windows of tall skyscrapers: 10,000-point diamond pickups are hidden behind 20% of the windows, and collecting 5 diamonds grants you a free extra life. For the final stage’s giant steam robot boss, do not waste firepower on its plated outer armor: hook the incendiary bombs it launches at you, fling them back at its chest plate to break off the armor, then target the exposed spinning gear mechanism underneath to defeat it in under 15 seconds. Avoid extending your hook when you are surrounded by
