Mastering BlockBuster takes a mix of strategic planning, quick reflexes, and knowledge of hidden mechanics to beat all 32 stages and top the global high score leaderboards on PLAYERETRO. First, learn the block stacking rule: you can only make blocks fall if you push the top block of a stack with 3 or more connected blocks in the same column. Pushing single or double stacks will only move them one space, so always prioritize building 3+ block stacks first to maximize damage to enemies below. Second, prioritize eliminating flying enemies first: bat-type enemies can fly across platforms and ignore ground obstacles, and they move twice as fast as standard ground enemies. Always keep an eye on the upper platforms for flying foes, and set up stacks directly under their flight paths to take them out before they can reach your position. Third, if you play 2-player co-op, assign clear roles to avoid friendly fire: one player can handle stacking blocks on the left half of the stage, while the other handles the right, and never stand under a stack your partner is pushing, as falling blocks will damage you just as much as they damage enemies. For boss battles every 5 stages, focus on stacking blocks directly under the boss’s platform: the giant stone boss is only vulnerable to falling block damage to its feet, and you will need 5 direct hits to defeat it. Avoid standing in front of the boss at all costs, as its rock throw attack is an instant kill. Finally, chase combo bonuses for higher scores: if you eliminate 3 or more enemies with a single falling block stack, you will unlock a score multiplier that goes up to 5x for 5+ enemy kills per stack. Lure groups of enemies into the same column before pushing your stack to maximize your combo gains and climb the leaderboard faster.
