Mastering Black Tiger requires a mix of careful exploration, strategic resource management, and precise platforming to make it through all eight levels and defeat the final dragon boss. First, prioritize rescuing every chained villager you encounter across each stage: many will give you large sums of gold, free health refills, or even rare permanent stat boosts that you cannot purchase from merchants, making them far more valuable than ordinary enemy drops. Next, always allocate your gold to upgrades in the following order: first upgrade your sword’s damage at least twice as early as possible, as higher damage lets you defeat common enemies in one or two hits instead of four or five, drastically reducing the damage you take over the course of a level. Second, invest in armor upgrades, as each tier of armor reduces the damage you take from all sources by a significant margin, which becomes critical in later levels where fast-moving magical enemies and projectile attacks can drain your health in seconds. Always destroy every destructible object you see, including cracked walls, clay jars, and loose stone blocks: many hide secret merchant stalls, free health pickups, or large piles of gold that you would otherwise miss. When fighting bosses, learn their attack patterns instead of rushing in: for the first stage’s ogre boss, wait for it to swing its club then dodge behind it to land two to three hits before jumping away to avoid its counterattack. For the final three-headed dragon boss, only attack its middle head during the short window after it finishes a fire breath attack, and stay on the higher platforms to avoid its sweeping tail attack that can knock you off the stage entirely. Finally, keep an eye out for hidden platform gaps that lead to secret levels, which offer huge amounts of gold and rare upgrades that make the rest of the game far easier to complete.
