B.C. Story (set 2)

Mastering B.C. Story (set 2) is easy to pick up but hard to fully perfect, starting with its core control scheme: use the 8-way arcade joystick to move left/right, crouch to avoid low-flying projectiles, and climb vines or ledges across each level. The first action button triggers your default wooden club swing, while the second controls your jump, and you can combine the two for a powerful aerial downward strike that hits enemies below you and unearths hidden collectibles buried in dirt patches. First, prioritize collecting whole roasted meat items whenever they appear: these restore your full health bar, unlike small berries that only restore 1/4 of your health. For small, swarming enemies like baby dromaeosaurs, use the three-hit combo triggered by tapping the attack button three times in quick succession to clear them out in seconds without taking damage. When facing the stage 1 mammoth boss, never stand directly in front of it when it rears back on its hind legs, as its charge attack will knock out 2/3 of your health in one hit; instead, dodge to the side once it rears back, then hit its hind legs three times to defeat it quickly. In the stage 2 swamp level, avoid stepping on bubbling mud patches at all costs, as they will trap you for 2 seconds and leave you vulnerable to enemy attacks, and jump down off the third floating log from the start of the level to access a hidden cave with a free 1UP extra life. For the final T-Rex boss, wait until it finishes its roar attack (which deals area-of-effect damage if you are within 3 feet of it) to move in and hit its head twice, then dodge back before it swipes its tail.
