Start with the core controls: use your joystick (or keyboard on our online emulator) to move the Vaus paddle left and right, and press the action button to launch the energy ball at the start of each level or after losing a life. First, never rush to launch the ball: take 2 to 3 seconds to assess the brick layout, identify bricks marked with power-up icons, and aim for gaps that will let the ball bounce between multiple rows of bricks for maximum clearing speed. Prioritize collecting helpful power-ups first: the E power-up expands your paddle for easier ball control, the L power-up grants an extra life, the S power-up slows the ball down for easier navigation in complex levels, the C power-up gives you piercing balls that go through multiple bricks, and the P power-up equips your paddle with laser cannons to destroy bricks directly. Avoid harmful power-ups at all costs: these include the shrink paddle modifier, speed-up ball, and skull icon that immediately costs you a life if collected. For early levels 1 to 40, focus on conserving extra lives and collecting as many expansion and laser power-ups as possible, as these will help you navigate the metal brick-heavy levels after level 40. When you reach the level 50 difficulty branch, choose the Easy path if you are new to the game, as it features fewer fast-moving obstacle enemies and less complex brick layouts; choose the Hard path if you are chasing high scores, as it offers 2x score multipliers for all cleared bricks and exclusive hidden bonus levels. For the final DOH boss fight, stay focused on dodging DOH’s projectile attacks first, only hitting the ball back when you are sure you will not miss. DOH’s weak point glows bright orange for 2-3 seconds after each attack, so aim all your ball hits at this spot to defeat him faster. In two-player co-op mode, split the screen into left and right zones for each player to cover, to avoid overlapping movements that lead to missed balls.
