Mastering Ares no Tsubasa (Japan) is all about balancing aggressive power-up collection and careful movement to avoid its dense, fast-paced bullet patterns. First, familiarize yourself with the core controls: use the 8-way joystick to move your Ares Wing fighter, the primary fire button to shoot standard laser blasts, and hold the fire button for 2 full seconds to unleash your charged Ares Beam attack, which deals 10x the damage of standard shots and pierces through all enemy shields. Prioritize collecting power-ups as soon as they appear: green P orbs upgrade your standard fire, up to 3 stacks that unlock dual wide lasers, blue S orbs grant a temporary shield that absorbs one incoming hit, and red B orbs give you a screen-clearing bomb that wipes out all visible enemies and bullets, with a maximum of 3 bombs stored at a time. For early levels, stick to the lower third of the screen to give yourself maximum time to react to incoming enemy fire and spawned power-ups. The first level’s tank boss has a weak point on its top turret: hit it with two fully charged Ares Beams to beat it in under 10 seconds, and if you clear the first level without losing a life, you will unlock a hidden golden P power-up that instantly maxes out your fire rank for the rest of the run. For the final Xenon Emperor boss fight, save at least one full bomb for its third and final phase, where it unleashes an unavoidable full-screen bullet spread: use the bomb to clear the bullets and hit its exposed chest core with charged attacks during its cooldown period to secure the win. If you beat the game on standard difficulty, you will unlock New Game+ mode, where enemy bullet speed is doubled and boss health is tripled for an extra challenge.
