Mastering the older European build of Air Gallet requires a mix of pattern memorization, intentional power-up management, and sharp reflexes, especially given its unforgiving default difficulty that cuts starting lives and boosts enemy aggression compared to other regional releases. First, prioritize weapon selection tailored to each stage: use the Scatter Missile loadout for Stages 1 and 2, where clustered enemy fighters and ground units appear in large groups, as its wide area of effect cuts down on the need to aim while you learn enemy spawn patterns. Switch to the high-damage Laser for Stage 3’s narrow canyon environment, where heavily armored mid-tier enemies appear in tight corridors that make wide-spread weapons ineffective. For Stage 4’s urban air raid stage, use Homing Rockets to lock onto enemies that spawn from all edges of the screen, letting you focus fully on dodging dense bullet patterns instead of targeting. Save your charged heavy attack for elite shielded enemies and mid-bosses: it takes 2 full seconds to charge, and one fully charged hit can take out even the most heavily armored bomber units in a single shot, preventing them from releasing waves of hard-to-dodge homing missiles. For life management, note that this build only awards extra lives at 1,000,000 point milestones, so avoid taking unnecessary risks in the first three stages.
