This bootleg variant of 1943: The Battle of Midway uses standard arcade controls: an 8-way joystick to move your fighter plane, one button for rapid-fire main machine guns, and a second button to activate your special screen-clearing attack. Unlike the original Japanese set, this hack gives you 3 starting extra lives instead of 2, so use that extra buffer to learn enemy patterns early on. First, prioritize collecting power-ups as you move through each stage: red power-up icons upgrade your main gun to fire wider, more damaging spread shots that can take out groups of enemies much faster, while blue icons increase your plane's movement speed, which is critical for dodging dense enemy bullet patterns in late stages. Your special attack meter fills automatically every time you destroy enemies; don't waste it on small groups of basic fighters — save it for when you're overwhelmed by ambushes or when you need to quickly clear out a mid-boss's supporting fire. When facing stage-ending bosses, which are almost always large capital ships like battleships or aircraft carriers, target smokestacks and anti-aircraft turrets first. These are the sources of most of the boss's persistent, unpredictable fire, so taking them out early makes the rest of the fight far easier. Once those are destroyed, focus all your fire on the ship's bridge to defeat the boss quickly. This bootleg hack features slightly faster enemy spawn rates in late stages than the original release, so keep your plane moving constantly — never hover in one spot for more than a second, as off-screen ambushes from small fighters are extremely common. You can earn an extra life every 10,000 points in this version, so destroy every small enemy you encounter to rack up points and extra lives faster. New players should practice the first three stages to memorize enemy spawn points before pushing into the harder late-game content that demands fast reflexes.
