1941 - Counter Attack may be a classic arcade shooter, but smart strategy will help you get further, earn higher scores, and beat tough end-level bosses without burning through all your credits. Start by learning the core progression: your primary weapon upgrades automatically when you collect P power-ups, progressing from a basic double machine gun to a wide spread shot, a piercing laser, and a powerful rocket barrage. Prioritize laser weapons for clearing dense swarms of small enemy fighters, and switch to rockets when facing large ground or naval targets like battleships and fortifications, as they deal far more damage to heavy armor. Save your special charged attack for emergency situations: you can charge your attack by holding the fire button, and release it to clear all enemy bullets and small ships off the screen. Never waste your special attack on regular enemy waves; save it for unexpected dense barrages or to finish off a low-health boss when you’re cornered. When playing through stages, avoid huddling all the way at the bottom of the screen. Leave at least a quarter of the screen open for movement, so you have room to dodge incoming bullets that spawn at the top of the screen. For boss fights, always target weak points first: most large bosses take extra damage from their central control tower, main turrets, or engine blocks. Avoid focusing on small secondary turrets until the main weak point is destroyed, as this speeds up the fight and reduces incoming fire. If you’re playing in two-player co-op, let the player with the lower weapon tier collect power-ups to even out your firepower, and coordinate special attacks to cover each other when one player gets trapped. Finally, memorize enemy spawn patterns: most stages follow a consistent spawn order, so learning when large enemy groups will appear lets you position yourself ahead of time for big combo scores, which earns you extra continues for reaching higher score thresholds.
