Zoids Saga Fuzors (Japan)

Released exclusively for the Game Boy Advance (GBA) in 2004 by Japanese publisher Tomy, Zoids Saga Fuzors is the third main entry in the Zoids Saga turn-based RPG series, built around the hugely popular Zoids mecha franchise. Set on the conflict-ridden planet Zi, the game follows a young customizable protagonist who builds a team of modular, animal-inspired combat mecha called Zoids, navigating a tense power struggle between rival mercenary groups chasing rare Zoid technology. Building on the core mechanics of the first two Zoids Saga GBA titles, Fuzors introduces its signature fusion system, which lets players combine two compatible Zoids to unlock a far more powerful, one-of-a-kind mecha with boosted stats and unique abilities. This Japanese-exclusive release never got an official western localization, making it a highly sought-after retro title for Zoids fans and GBA collectors alike. The game boasts over 100 unique Zoids to collect, dozens of optional side quests, and tactical turn

Game Guide

New players to Zoids Saga Fuzors can quickly get overwhelmed by the game’s deep collection and customization systems, so these strategic tips will help you progress smoothly and unlock all the game’s best content. First, don’t sleep on the fusion system early in the game: contrary to common belief, fusion isn’t just for endgame content. Unlocking basic fusions just a few hours into the campaign will give you a massive stat advantage over early story bosses, so always check the fusion menu every time you add a new Zoid to your collection. Many common early-game Zoids have fusion combinations that outclass any wild Zoid you’ll encounter in the first half of the story. Next, prioritize team balance: avoid filling your roster with only heavy melee attackers. You’ll need at least one long-range Zoid for picking off enemies from a distance, one tanky melee Zoid to soak damage, and one support Zoid with healing abilities to survive long boss fights. This balance will carry you through almost every encounter in the main story. For early XP and part grinding, head to the open grasslands just outside the first major story city after completing the opening quest. This area has frequent low-level encounters that drop valuable crafting parts and steady XP, without posing a major risk to your under-leveled team. To unlock rare hidden Zoids, complete every side quest offered by NPCs in each town: most rare Zoid cores are only awarded as quest rewards, and can’t be found in the wild. When fighting the mid-game Blue Mercenary faction boss, bring a Zoid with electric damage, as his heavy steel armor is specifically weak to electric attacks, cutting your fight time nearly in half. Finally, always save your game before attempting a new fusion, because most fusion combinations are irreversible, and you don’t want to accidentally lose a rare Zoid core.
