First, master the core mechanics: Aldo’s mid-air jump adjustment is your most important tool for navigating pitfalls and avoiding enemy attacks. The A button controls jumping, and holding the jump button allows Aldo to stay aloft longer, so adjust your hold time to reach distant platforms. Your primary attack is the ranged quack blast, triggered with the B button. Always take out enemies from a distance instead of rushing into close combat, as contact with alligator enemies deals a full heart of damage, which adds up quickly in long levels. Collect as many scattered duck coins as you can throughout each level: every 100 coins collected increases your maximum health by one heart, which is a game-changer for tough late-game boss fights. Many coins and health pickups are hidden in secret areas, accessed by jumping onto out-of-sight platforms along the top or edges of the level, so always explore thoroughly instead of rushing to the exit. For boss fights, memorize attack patterns to make quick work of every villain: first boss Big Al’s charge attack can be easily avoided by jumping to the raised edge platforms in his arena. Wait for him to finish charging and turn around, then fire three quack blasts at his unprotected back to deal damage. In the sinking platform sewer levels, never stop moving: platforms sink 2 seconds after you step on them, so keep jumping from platform to platform to avoid falling into toxic water that instantly kills you.
