Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi - Kaznapped! (USA)

Released in 2005 for the Game Boy Advance by D3 Publisher, Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi - Kaznapped! is a vibrant action platformer based on Cartoon Network’s beloved animated series inspired by the real-life Japanese pop-rock duo Puffy AmiYumi. The game follows a playful story aligned with the show’s tone: when Ami and Yumi’s manager Kaz is kidnapped by a jealous former roadie, the two rock stars set off across 14 distinct levels to track him down and save their manager. What makes this licensed title stand out from many other cartoon tie-in games is its clever core mechanic: players can swap between Ami and Yumi at any point to match their unique skills to the challenge at hand. Ami is faster and can jump higher, making her perfect for tricky precision platforming sections that require navigating narrow gaps and moving platforms. Yumi boasts greater physical strength, letting her break through destructible barriers, take down tough enemies faster, and access hidden areas of levels. The game f

Game Guide

To get the most out of your playthrough of Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi - Kaznapped! and 100% complete the GBA game, follow these simple tips and strategies. First, master the character swap mechanic early: always default to Ami for any platforming section, as her higher jump and faster movement make it far easier to avoid falls and navigate moving platforms. Use Yumi exclusively for combat and breaking cracked walls, crates, and other destructible objects — almost all hidden collectibles are locked behind barriers only Yumi can break, so never leave a suspicious destructible object unchecked. Your main collectible in every level is golden CDs, with 10 CDs available per full stage. Collecting all 10 CDs per level unlocks bonus content including concept art from the show and full rock tracks from Puffy AmiYumi, so don’t rush straight to the level exit. Always check higher ledges (which Ami can easily reach) and hidden side paths off the main route to find CDs you missed on your first run. For boss fights, learn the simple pattern for each encounter to beat them quickly: the first boss (the kidnapper) jumps around and throws projectiles, so dodge with Ami then swap to Yumi to hit him with three guitar strikes to stun and defeat him. Keep an eye out for heart pickups hidden inside breakable crates — if you’re low on health, save these pickups until you need them instead of picking them up early when your health is full. If you run out of lives, replay earlier easier levels to collect extra lives and practice your character swapping before returning to more challenging stages.
