Crazy Chase (Europe) (Beta)

Crazy Chase (Europe) (Beta) is a rare unreleased beta prototype of the action-racing game developed by Neon Studios and planned for 2004 European release by Majesco Entertainment for the Game Boy Advance (GBA). This unique build never saw an official retail launch, preserved only by retro game preservation communities and now available to play online at PLAYERETRO. The game centers on high-speed chasing gameplay, where players control a quick protagonist running across diverse themed levels while escaping relentless pursuers. Levels in this beta span busy urban city streets, sun-baked desert highways, twisty forest backroads, and coastal cliffside paths, each filled with dynamic obstacles like moving traffic, falling rocks, and blocked roads to navigate around. As an early beta build, this version includes placeholder audio, unpolished level layouts, and hidden debug features that are not present in the rumored later final build that never launched. Game Guide

Whether you’re a first-time player or a retro enthusiast exploring this rare GBA beta, these tips will help you get the most out of your Crazy Chase playthrough. First, master the core GBA controls: the directional pad controls your character’s movement, the A button triggers your speed boost, and the B button lets you jump over obstacles and dodge incoming projectiles from pursuing enemies. Many new players make the mistake of wasting their boost on open straightaways; instead, save your boost for tight corners, obstacle-heavy sections, or emergencies when a pursuer gets within grabbing distance of your character. Early city levels are filled with moving cars, construction barriers, and open manholes. Time your jumps to cross moving traffic, and stick to the sidewalk when possible to avoid unexpected collisions that slow you down and let pursuers close the gap. For the desert levels included in this beta, watch out for unmarked quicksand pits that are not clearly highlighted in this early build. If you spot a darker patch of sand, jump over it immediately, as falling into a pit will cost you a life and force you to restart from the last checkpoint. Collectible coins scattered throughout each level can be used to unlock hidden debug areas in this beta that were never meant to be accessed by retail players. Collect at least 100 coins per level to unlock the hidden level select screen from the main menu, which lets you skip to any in-development level without beating earlier stages first. Keep in mind one common bug in this European beta: the game may freeze if you collect a rocket power-up near a level boundary. If you pick up a rocket, stay in the center of the track until you use it to avoid triggering a crash. For high score runs, collect consecutive coins without hitting obstacles to trigger a combo multiplier that doubles your score for the rest of the level.
