Whether you're new to the original Legend of Zelda or coming back after decades, these tips will help you navigate Hyrule and defeat Ganon smoothly. First, when you start the game, grab the Wooden Sword from the opening cave and immediately head west to find the hidden cave that grants you the Blue Shield, which blocks most projectile attacks early in your quest. The first dungeon is located in the northern section of the overworld, but don't rush into dungeons before exploring the surrounding area for hidden heart pieces that increase your maximum health, making tough fights far easier. One of the most important core mechanics to remember is that nearly every suspicious-looking gap, unmarked wall, or odd formation on the overworld or in dungeons can be blown open with bombs. Search for hidden caves behind trees, rock outcrops, and dead-end hallways — these often hide free items, extra heart containers, or discount secret shops. Always carry at least 10 bombs with you at all times to avoid missing out on critical secrets. Inside dark dungeons, you'll need a candle to light your way; the Blue Candle is reusable, so keep it equipped whenever you enter a new labyrinth. When you reach the final dungeon to face Ganon, make sure you've collected the Silver Arrow before fighting him — only the Silver Arrow can defeat the dark villain.
