Aladdin (Japan)

Released in 2001 for the Game Boy Advance (GBA) by Disney Interactive, Aladdin (Japan) is a localized Japanese action-platformer adapted from Disney’s iconic 1992 animated feature film of the same name. Built for Nintendo’s popular handheld console, this port refines the gameplay and art of earlier Aladdin console releases to fit GBA’s portable hardware, with fully Japanese text and UI adjusted for Japanese players. You play as Aladdin, a quick-witted street thief from the desert city of Agrabah, who must stop the evil sorcerer Jafar from seizing the throne and capturing Princess Jasmine. Gameplay blends fast-paced platforming with light combat: you’ll leap across rooftops, swing on ropes, navigate the treacherous Cave of Wonders, and ride the magic carpet through stunning levels inspired directly by the animated film. Aladdin uses apples as his primary weapon to take down guards and enemies, while his loyal monkey companion Abu occasionally reveals hidden secrets and power-ups. The ga

Game Guide

If you’re new to Aladdin (Japan) for GBA, these tips and strategies will help you beat every level and unlock all hidden content. First, master the basic controls: use the directional pad to move, the A button to jump, and the B button to throw apples. Holding B will charge a stronger throw that can take out tougher enemies in one hit, and you can adjust your mid-jump position with the directional pad to land on narrow platforms easily. For collection, every level is scattered with blue gems that add up to extra lives – collect 100 gems to gain a full extra life, so don’t rush through levels. Keep an eye out for hidden red chests tucked behind background elements like vines, wall crevices, and moving platforms; these chests often contain extra lives, temporary invincibility, or rare power-ups that make tough fights much easier. In the opening Agrabah Market level, avoid engaging groups of guards head-on. Pick off enemies one at a time with well-placed apple throws to the head, which will defeat most standard guards in one hit. Climb up to the rooftops early to find more gems and hidden paths that skip tough sections. For the Cave of Wonders level, watch for ground shadows that signal incoming falling rocks – jump out of the shadow quickly to avoid taking damage. The iconic magic carpet ride level requires steady control: focus on dodging lava bursts and rock obstacles first, only grab gems that are out of the path of danger to avoid unnecessary crashes. When you reach the final boss fight against Jafar, start by dodging his magic projectiles behind stone pillars, then throw apples at him when he pauses to reload. Once he transforms into a giant snake, keep moving around the arena to avoid his charge attacks, and throw apples at his head between charges. Unlike the western GBA release, the Japanese version has a slightly longer health bar, so don’t be afraid to take a chance to get a clear hit on tough bosses.
